Vol. 442 No. 1

Written Answers. - Travellers Halting Sites.

Peter Barry

Question:

85 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the allocation of £300,000 for Cork for the halting sites programmes, including the completion of the Carrigrohane site and the upgrading of the Mahon site in Cork, is not sufficient to cover expected expenditure on these schemes in 1994; the proposals, if any, he has to make additional finance available for this purpose; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Cork Corporation's allocation in 1994 for the provision of travellers halting sites is £100,000 which will meet any final payment necessary in the case of the Carrigrohane Road site. Work has not yet commenced on the redevelopment of the Mahon site; if the corporation incur expenditure during 1994 on this site, the necessary funding will be made available.
