44 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for the Marine if assistance can be given to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo under the new scheme for assistance for fishermen who have suffered as a result of adverse weather conditions.
I can assure the Deputy that if the fishermen to whom his question refers can show that he has suffered significant loss due to the prolonged period of bad weather, he will be eligible for assistance under the terms of the scheme which, as the Deputy will be aware, is being administered by an Bord Iascaigh Mhara.
I have asked that the name and address of the person be supplied to BIM who will issue an application form directly.
