Enda Kenny

Question:

112 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when cattle headage will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.

The person named was paid his full 1993 suckler cow grant on 19 May 1994. He was also paid an advance of his 1993 cattle headage grant on 20 December 1993. This application is being processed further at present and any balance due will be paid in the near future.

Question:

113 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when area aid subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.

There is no area grant or subsidy as such but lodgement of an area aid application is a requirement for payment of most livestock schemes.

The person named was paid the full amount due to him under the 1993 cattle headage and suckler cow premium schemes. He applied for special beef premium on three animals in June 1993 but as two of the animals were under age he was paid on one animal only. Based on the acreage declared on the area aid application lodged by him in 1993 he is due extensification premia on the 17 suckler cows and one beef premium animal applied on in 1993. These payments are being processed and he will receive the amount due to him shortly.

My Department is unable to trace any record of the other matter referred to by the Deputy. However, if further details are provided to my Department such as the cheque payee, the amount involved and the section to which the correspondence was addressed, the matter will be further examined.

Michael Creed

Question:

114 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will have arrangements made to pay 1993 cattle headage grants to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

Under the terms and conditions of the 1993 cattle and equine headage scheme, an applicant was required to occupy and farm at least 7.5 statue acres (3 hectares) of agricultural land. As the person named declared only 6.5 acres (2.63 hectares) on his area aid form he is not eligible for grants under the headage scheme.

Question:

115 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be paid for a slatted unit.

Having regard to the level of claims currently on hands, I expect that payment will be made within the next few weeks.

Ivan Yates

Question:

116 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a beef premium and suckler cow grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; and if he will expedite this payment.

The person named applied for suckler cow premium on nine animals in 1993. He was paid an advance of £379.63 on eight cows as this is the number he was paid on in 1992 and for which he has established automatic quota rights. His application is being processed further at present and the balance due will be paid within the next two weeks.

He also applied for the 22 month special beef premium on nine animals in January 1993. He was paid an advance of £158.19 on 4 February 1994 on foot of this application for five animals. The remaining four animals were deemed to be under age as he stated on the application that they were born in April 1991 thereby indicating that they were only 21 months at time of application. However, a concession has been made whereby animals born in April 1991 and applied on in January 1993 may now be paid the 22 month premium. Payment in respect of these four animals and the balance due on the five other animals will be paid as soon as possible.
Extensification premium cannot be processed until all other payments due to him under the 1993 livestock schemes have been calculated.
