49 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for the Environment when he will make regulations concerning the establishment of taxi ranks in Mullingar and Athlone, County Westmeath; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that these regulations have been promised for a long time; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The preparation of regulations to implement a number of changes to the system governing the operation of small public service vehicles is at an advanced stage and the regulations will be made at the earliest possible date. These will include provisions relating to the introduction of taxi services in new areas such as Mullingar and Athlone.
