Vol. 443 No. 3

Written Answers. - Community Health Care Centre.

Seymour Crawford

Question:

27 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Health the plans, if any, he has to provide a modern and accessible health care centre in Ballybay, County Monaghan, to ensure that the aged and disabled are properly catered for in view of the fact that the present health care centre is up on a hill and inaccessible for quite a number of elderly people.

Seymour Crawford

Question:

38 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Health when he intends to provide a community health care centre for Monaghan town which has been discussed in his Department over the last number of years.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 27 and 38 together.

The North-Eastern Health Board has prepared a development and control plan for St. Davnet's Hospital which includes a proposal for the development of a health centre.

In relation to Ballybay, the position is that the Health Board is currently evaluating the needs of the population and the options for the development of an appropriate facility are currently being examined.

On receipt of the Board's proposals for the development of health centres in Monaghan and Ballybay, the matter will be considered as sympathetically as possible.
