Vol. 443 No. 7

Written Answers. - Steele-Richardson-Oslzewski Syndrome.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

194 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health the number of known cases of Steele Richardsons disease recorded in this country; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Presumably the Deputy is referring to Steele-Richardson-Oslzewski syndrome which is a very rare form of dementia and which, because of its different manifestations, is not currently listed in the World Health Organisation's International Classification of Diseases, ICD 9. It is not a notifiable disease and I therefore have no information on the number of cases in this country.
