Question:

193 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Health the age of ambulances currently being used by the ambulance service in north Wicklow to carry patients to Dublin hospitals; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Eastern Health Board ambulances providing services to the north Wicklow region may come from either the Loughlinstown or Wicklow bases. The age profile for these vehicles at both centres is as follows:

The question of ambulance replacement is being dealt with in the context of the implementation of the findings of the report of the Review Group on the Ambulance Service published in December 1993, which recommended that an efficient fleet management system, incorporating a formal vehicle replacement policy, should be developed by each health board.
