Vol. 443 No. 7

Written Answers. - Renewal of Lease.

Tony Gregory

Question:

45 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Finance the reason the application of a person (details supplied) for renewal of his lease of the tea rooms, Phoenix Park, Dublin 7, was refused in view of the successful development by him of the business; if a new lessee is being sought; and, if not, the plans, if any, he has for the tea rooms.

In common with numerous other such facilities run by the Office of Public Works throughout the country the tea-rooms in the Phoenix Park are operated on a concession basis. The concession licence for these tea-rooms which ran for two years expired on 15 May 1994 and the Commissioners of Public Works sought tenders for a further two year period. The lessee in question submitted a tender which was fully considered along with others received and he has been informed of the outcome of his tender, which was unsuccessful.
