Vol. 443 No. 7

Written Answers. - FÁS Scheme for Caretakers.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

84 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if he will amend the regulations concerning the implementation of FÁS schemes for caretakers and others in view of details supplied.

The question raised by the Deputy does not concern the operation of the community employment programme, formerly the social employment scheme. Rather it relates to the circumstances of a person who, after completing a period on the programme, has been employed as a caretaker by a primary school.

The level of gross pay and hours of attendance for this individual in his employment as caretaker are matters for negotiation between him and the employer, who in this instance is the board of management of the primary school.
