Written Answers. - Dundalk (Louth) School Building Projects.

Question:

122 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date position with the proposed building project for De La Salle College, Dundalk, County Louth; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The current position is that my Department has had prolonged discussions with the school authority with a view to providing an appropriate range of accommodation at De La Salle College, Dundalk. A schedule of accommodation drawn up by my Department was initially approved by the school authority.

However, the school principal has very recently requested some alterations to the schedule. A revised schedule of accommodation has now issued from the Department and a response is awaited.

123 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date position with the building project for Scoil Bhríde, Sheelagh, Hackballscross, Dundalk, County Louth; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

My Department has received an application from the Chairman of the Board of Management for grant-aid in respect of a major improvements scheme at this school. This application is under consideration and a decision on the matter will be conveyed to the school authorities in due course.

124 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date position with the building project for Scoil Clochair Muire, Castletown girls school, Dundalk, County Louth; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

My Department is considering a report from its local professional advisers regarding grant-aid for a major improvements scheme at this school and a decision on the matter will be conveyed to the school authorities at an early date.
