Vol. 445 No. 6

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Deasy — the provision of a second bridge over the river Suir at Waterford. (2) Deputy Enda Kenny — school transport in the Glenamoy/ Ballina area of County Mayo. (3) Deputy Quill — the action it is proposed to take to facilitate closure of obsolete incinerators at Cork Regional Hospital and St. Finbarr's Hospital in Cork city. (4) Deputy Ring — the need to revert to previous catchment boundaries in relation to school transport arrangements for the Glenamoy area. (5) Deputy Dukes — the current status of the proposals to construct a new 120 megawatt peat-fired power station in the east midlands and the provision of EU and Exchequer funding for the project. (6) Deputy John Bruton — the failure of the Government to agree on a nominee for appointment by the President as President of the High Court. (7) Deputy Rabbitte — the current difference of opinion between the Comptroller and Auditor General and the Revenue Commissioners which has prevented the Comptroller from publishing an analysis he has undertaken of the 1993 tax amnesty. (8) Deputy Bradford — ferry safety following the recent Estonia disaster. (9) Deputy Keogh — whether it is intended to publish the specialist report on the VHI presented to the Minister for Health in June which outlines company underwriting losses of £15.5 million.

I have selected for discussion the matters raised by Deputies Rabbitte, Bradford, Dukes and Keogh.
