102 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the status of the submission to the EU for areas being reclassified and for areas seeking disadvantaged status; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1201/94]
The disadvantaged areas appeals panel completed its analysis of areas seeking reclassification to more severly handicapped status, and I have formally submitted their recommendations to the EU Commission.
The recommendations of the appeals panel in respect of the extension of the disadvantaged areas were submitted earlier, and both submissions are now awaiting examination by the Commission.
It is not possible to say how long it will take the Commission to complete its examination of the proposals.
