The following is a list of the 27 public hospitals which provide sterilisation services together with the number of patients on the waiting lists, and the waiting time in each hospital.

* In relation to the South Victoria, Cork, the hospital is currently validating its waiting list. The hospital considers that this validation exercise will demonstrate that a number of women on the present waiting list have had the procedure carried out elsewhere or do not wish to proceed with the operation. The South Victoria have contracted to carry out an additional 140 sterilisation procedures this year under the 1994 Waiting List Initiative for which a special sum of £50,053 has been allocated in respect of gynaecological operations.
A number of the above hospitals do not maintain formal waiting lists in respect of patients requiring sterilisation operations since there is no waiting time in these hospitals once the decision to proceed with the operation has been made.
