Vol. 447 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Cork Regional Technical College.

John Bruton

Question:

332 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education the action, if any, she intends to take in relation to part-time teachers at Cork Regional Technical College who have been required to reduce their hours to under nine hours per week to avoid entitlements under the employment protection legislation; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [3081/94]

The allocation of teaching hours to part-time teachers is entirely a matter for the authorities of the college concerned.

I understand from the authorities in the Regional Technical College, Cork, that part-time teaching hours vary from year to year depending on the teaching requirements in the various subject areas. I am assured by the college authorities that they have no policy of reducing part-time teaching hours other than in accordance with teaching requirements.
