Vol. 447 No. 11

Written Answers. - Keenagh (Mayo) Group Water Scheme.

Jim Higgins

Question:

124 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in sanctioning the Keenagh group water scheme, Ballina, County Mayo. [1195/95]

This scheme is not economically viable on the basis of standard group water scheme grants and would require a substantial additional grant contribution from the provision for public water and sewerage schemes.

Having regard to the existing level of commitments and the demands of schemes already prioritised for investment, it has not been possible to approve the scheme up to now. The proposal will however be re-examined in the context of the 1995 provision for group schemes.
