Question:25 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for Finance if there will be support for smaller and medium sized industries in the Border region which have a cross-Border content under the INTERREG II programme. [1305/95]

I am happy to be able to assure the Deputy that such assistance will be available under the economic development measure of the new INTERREG programme which is expected to be approved shortly by the EU Commission. SMEs in the Border region will be particularly encouraged to come forward with proposals for innovative co-operative actions aimed at reducing the effects of peripherality and underdevelopment.
