Limerick East): I propose to take Questions Nos. 60 and 81 together.

The numbers of cases of hepatitis A reported to my Department since 1990 are: 1990, 538; 1991, 205; 1992, 414; 1993, 369; 1994, 93 (Provisional).

Information on the number of cases among pupils in primary and secondary schools is not collected at Departmental level.

The issue of transmission of infections generally in schools, including what guidance may be provided in schools, is being considered by my Department in conjunction with the Department of Education.
