Question:

61 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for Health the agreements that have been reached in the service content of phase two of Mayo General Hospital; if he will agree to the provision of 33 orthopaedic beds and two orthopaedic surgeons as part of the agreement to enable the matter proceed to the preparation of a design brief; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Limerick East): The joint Department-Western Health Board project team is currently examining the planning brief for phase two of the Mayo General Hospital development and will shortly be making a submission to my Department. A request has recently been received from the Western Health Board to include orthopaedic services as part of the phase two development, and this is now being examined in my Department.
