Vol. 448 No. 3

Written Answers. - Post-Primary School in Knocklyon.

Liz O'Donnell

Question:

136 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Education if she will reconsider her decision taken in October 1994, not to proceed with the long-awaited post-primary school in Knocklyon, Dublin 14, in view of the continuing demands of the community for the provision of this school; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [2014/95]

In September 1994 I decided not to proceed with the construction of a post-primary school for Knocklyon. I have no plans to alter that decision.

My decision was taken in the light of the conclusions and recommendations of the independent Report carried out by Dr. Michael Bannon on the Service Industries Research Centre, UCD. I have set out my position on the matter in my reply to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 27, 30 and 36, of 13 October 1994, to which I refer the Deputy.
