Vol. 448 No. 3

Written Answers. - Long-Term Lease.

Seamus Brennan

Question:

137 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in providing a long term lease at the old Loreto national school, Rathfarnham, Dublin 14, for Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council as required by the Nutgrove and Loreto Residents Association, the Rathfarnham Concert Band Society, the Loreto Order and other voluntary groups; the reason her response to this request was to offer a two years lease, subject to review; and the reason any expansion required for the south city school project cannot be accommodated by extension in the ample grounds available. [2091/95]

The legal transfer of the old Loreto national school, Rathfarnham from the Loreto Order to the Minister for Education has not yet been finalised. When this process has been completed I will be pleased to assign part of the premises to Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council on a long term lease. The terms of the lease will provide for additional classroom accommodation for the South City School Project if this is required.

The question of an extension for the South City School Project does not arise since there is ample school accommodation available in the existing premises.
