Vol. 448 No. 3

Written Answers. - Mount Anville Primary School.

Seamus Brennan

Question:

138 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Education the reason an approved prefabricated extension at Mount Anville Primary School, Grant Number 23/94, has not yet been provided in view of the fact that sanction was given in May 1994 and the need for this prefab from September 1994 has been recognised and the children who will use the prefab are currently occupying a kitchen area which is extremely cold and inadequate for use as a classroom; and the timescale for completion of the works and occupation. [2092/95]

My Department has approved the provision of one prefabricated classroom at the school in question to cater for increased enrolments. Planning permission has been received from the local authority and tenders have been invited. However a fire safety certificate, required in accordance with the fire safety regulations of the Building Control Act, 1990, is still awaited. My Department will make every effort to ensure that the extra classroom is in place as soon as possible.
