Vol. 448 No. 4

Written Answers. - Personal Tax Allowances.

Liam Aylward

Question:

81 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Finance if he will make provision in the 1995 budget to extend full personal tax allowance to farmers and the self-employed, similar to the additional £800 PAYE allowance which PAYE tax payers receive; if the PRSI allowance of £286 will be extended; his views on whether such provisions are necessary; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2213/95]

The proposal put forward by the Deputy is but one of many similar proposals put before me by representatives of the groups referred to in the question in their pre-budget submissions. I wish to assure the Deputy that the proposals are being considered in the context of the forthcoming budget.
