Vol. 448 No. 4

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

Jim Mitchell

Question:

121 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Social Welfare in respect of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8, if an application for an old age non-contributory pension has been received; if this application has been refused; and if, in the circumstances now prevailing, he will reconsider this application and confirm that an old age non-contributory pension will be granted. [2312/95]

The person concerned originally applied for old age non-contributory pension in November 1984. Payment was refused on the grounds that he failed to disclose his means.

He reapplied in September 1991 but payment was refused on the grounds that his weekly means derived from savings exceeded the income limit for entitlement to pension.

The person concerned has not reapplied for pension since then.

In view of the information supplied by the Deputy his case is being re-examined. When inquiries are completed, his entitlement to old age non-contributory pension will be determed and he will be notified of the result without delay.
