Vol. 448 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grants to GAA Clubs.

Hugh Byrne

Question:

154 Mr. H. Byrne asked the Minister for Education the date of application, progress to date and likely date of issue of grants of £5,000 each to Taghmon-Camross and our Lady's Island GAA Clubs in County Wexford; the reason for the delay in issuing payment; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [2715/95]

In February, 1994 applications were received by my Department from Taghmon-Camross and from Our Lady's Island GAA Clubs under the recreational facilities scheme and in August, 1994 grants of £5,000 were allocated to both clubs.

The clubs were advised of the terms and conditions of this scheme in August, 1994 and were requested to forward the necessary documentation in respect of these projects. No reply has been received to date.

Payment of these grants can only be considered when all this documentation is received by my Department.
