44 Miss Quill asked the Minister for Justice the progress being made by the Garda in its inquiries into the alleged paedophile ring operating on the northside of Cork city; the prosecutions, if any, being brought in relation to the matters under investigation; and the steps, if any, being taken to protect the children involved in the alleged sexual abuse. I have been informed by the Garda authorities that the matter referred to in the Deputy's question is the subject of a Garda investigation which will be concluded as soon as possible. A file in the matter will be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions at the conclusion of the investigation. The Southern Health Board has been alerted. As the investigation is ongoing, it would not be appropriate for me to report further.
