Written Answers. - Inspector of Prisons Appointment.
The Department's policy document The Management of Offenders — A Five Year Plan published last June proposed the appointment of an inspector of prisons. I am in full agreement with this proposal. No decisions were made, at the time, on the salary and other arrangements for the post. These aspects of the matter have been under review in my Department and I hope to be in a position to proceed with an appointment shortly.
