Question:

64 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice the total amount of money stolen in bank raids and security raids in January 1995 and the comparative figures for January in each of the years 1990 to 1994. [2511/95]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the information requested is as follows:

The amounts referred to above relate to money stolen from banks, building societies, post offices and warehouses. The figure for January 1995 is provisional and subject to change.
Of the amount stolen in January 1992, £2,745,009 was stolen in a raid on the AIB Cash Pool, Lisduggan, County Waterford.
Of the amount stolen in January 1995, £2.8 million was stolen in a raid on the Brinks Allied premises, Clonshaugh.
