80 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Justice, in view of the reduced security risk in Border areas, if she will redeploy gardaí from former trouble spots to the Dublin area, particularly inner city locations, where elderly people are living in fear from regular break-ins and intimidation. As I indicated in my reply to Question No. 18 on today's Order Paper, I am most anxious, as is everybody else in this House, to see gardaí reassigned from Border duties at the earliest opportunity. Assuming that the security situation remains as positive as it is at this time — and I am in no doubt that we can look forward to continuing peace — I would expect worthwhile redeployment of Garda manpower and resources to take place during the current year.
