Vol. 449 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Enterprise Boards.

Séamus Hughes

Question:

33 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if he will review the practice of non-payment of travelling expenses to members of county enterprise boards in view of the fact that members of some boards have journeys in excess of 100 miles to attend meetings. [2431/95]

On the establishment of the county enterprise boards my predecessor decided that members of the boards would not be entitled to claim expenses for attendance at board meetings. This position remains unchanged. However, in response to representations received from a number of boards, my predecessor directed that representational activities undertaken by chairpersons or their representatives would qualify for reimbursement of travelling expenses.
