Vol. 449 No. 3

Written Answers. - Parking of Heavy Goods Vehicles.

Seamus Brennan

Question:

80 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Justice whether distinctions will be drawn between trucks and vans in the context of the rules being made to prohibit the parking of large vehicles in residential areas; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [3533/95]

I refer the Deputy to my replies to questions regarding the parking of heavy goods vehicles in residential areas on 24 January 1995 and 7 February 1995.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that it is intended to apply the prohibition to large vehicles. A "large vehicle" will mean a vehicle and any accompanying trailer whether coupled or uncoupled whose length exceeds 6 metres and whose width exceeds 2 metres.
