Vol. 449 No. 8

Written Answers. - Sight Testing Services.

Robert Molloy

Question:

36 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the fact that persons (details supplied) in Galway who are applicants for services under the Western Health Board's sight testing scheme have been informed that their cases do not come within the priority categories and they have been refused the services of the sight testing scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4563/95]

Limerick East): I understand from the Western Health Board that an application under the adult sight testing scheme was received by the health board from the persons concerned on 3 February 1995. On the basis of the information received from the applicants, and since there was no accompanying certificate from a medical practitioner, the application was placed on a non-urgent waiting list. The persons concerned were advised by the health board of the position by letter of 6 February 1995.
