Vol. 449 No. 8

Written Answers. - Seed Capital Tax Scheme.

Hugh Byrne

Question:

61 Mr. H. Byrne asked the Minister for Finance, in view of a case (details supplied) in County Wexford, if he will review the capital seed tax scheme with the purpose of removing the situation whereby a manufacturing business is ineligible for inclusion unless it is also eligible for grant-aid; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4628/95]

I am satisfied that the requirement of grant-aid eligibility for manufacturing companies is desirable to ensure that the seed capital scheme is properly focused. It should be noted that it is not necessary that the project actually receive grant-aid only that it be eligible for grant-aid by an appropriate industrial development agency.
