Vol. 450 No. 2

Written Answers. - Moneypoint (Clare) Power Station.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

152 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the plans, if any, he has in place for the replacement of Moneypoint coal burning power station. [5028/95]

Moneypoint power station consists of 3 X 300 mW coal fired units. The station was commissioned in 1985 and has a projected 30 year design life. The 900 mW represents 22 per cent of the ESB's installed capacity and in 1994 the station provided 40.3 per cent of system demand. There are no plans to replace Moneypoint power station.
