Vol. 450 No. 2

Written Answers. - Local Authorities' Arts Officers.

Pat Upton

Question:

87 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for the Environment the local authorities which have appointed arts officers and established arts departments; the total number of full-time equivalents who are employed by local authorities in this area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4959/95]

The local authorities which have appointed arts officers are set out in the following table. It is the policy that each county council and county borough corporation should have an arts officer. My Department has written to those authorities who do not currently employ an arts officer encouraging them to make appointments.
