Vol. 450 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Aided Voluntary Bodies.

Hugh Byrne

Question:

146 Mr. H. Byrne asked the Minister for Social Welfare the voluntary bodies grant aided by his Department; the amount of grant aid allocated in each year since 1993; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5230/95]

The Department operates a community development programme, a money advice and budget service, under which projects to tackle the problems of moneylending and overindebtedness are funded, and a number of once-off grant schemes for voluntary and community groups. There was a very large number of individual grants made under these schemes and programmes in 1993 and 1994.

Details of all such grants paid under the various schemes operated by the Department in 1993 were placed in the Oireachtas Library on 4 March 1994. I have now arranged for details of the grants in respect of 1994 to be likewise placed in the Library for the information of members.
