Vol. 450 No. 3

Written Answers. - Future of Broadcasting.

Michael P. Kitt

Question:

95 Mr. M. Kitt asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht if he will meet with the Association of Independent Radio Stations and individual radio stations to discuss matters of concern to them. [5205/95]

The Green Paper on Broadcasting, which I hope to publish shortly, will provide the opportunity for the widest possible debate on the future of broadcasting, including the independent radio sector. I am certain that the Association of Independent Radio Stations will have an important contribution to make to this debate during the consultation process which will follow publication of the Green Paper. Radio station operators will also have the opportunity to make their own individual contributions.

I have no objections to meeting, as I have done before, representatives of the association or individual station operators during the consultation process as the occasion demands.
