Vol. 450 No. 3

Written Answers. - Derelict Sites Act.

Ivor Callely

Question:

116 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Environment if he has satisfied himself with the efficiency of the Derelict Sites Act; the proposals, if any, he has to amend the Act; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5137/95]

I am satisfied that the Derelict Sites Act, 1990 provides local authorities with an effective means of preventing and remedying dereliction. It is the responsibility of the local authorities themselves to make the best use of the comprehensive powers available to them. I have no proposals to amend the legislation.
