Vol. 450 No. 4

Written Answers. - Second Level School Places.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

103 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education the arrangements, if any, that are being made to ensure that all sixth class pupils from Togher national school and Morning Star school in Ballyphephane are accommodated in nearby secondary schools at Deerpark and Colaiste Chríost Rí, Cork. [2756/95]

As I indicated in my reply to Dáil Question No. 26 on Tuesday, 7 February 1995, I am aware of the current shortage of second level places for boys in the Togher, Greenmount and Ballyphehane areas of Cork city and my Department has been actively engaged in seeking a solution to the problem.

As a result of these efforts, the Deputy will be pleased to learn that sufficient places are now available in second-level schools in the area, including Deerpark CBS and Coláiste Chríost Rí, to accommodate all the pupils concerned.
