Vol. 450 No. 5

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Items Nos. 1 and 12. It is also proposed that, notwithstanding anything in Standing Orders, Item No. 1 shall be decided without debate.

Are the proposals satisfactory and agreed? Agreed.

Will the Tánaiste ask the Minister for Enterprise and Employment to investigate under company law, the activities of Sunbeam Industries?

That does not arise now.

When will the Harbours Bill be brought forward? Are there any major changes between it and the Bill brought in by the previous Government?

The work on the Bill is almost completed and I hope it will be before us this session. It is a matter for the Minister to insert changes which he feels are necessary.

It is easy to see Fianna Fáil are looking for shelter.

The Deputy has come out of his shelter.

When a man is bought he is bought.

Home from the storms.

(Interruptions.)

Will the Minister for Enterprise and Employment tell us the cost to the State of the closure of Sunbeam and the loss of 108 jobs?

The Deputy may proceed by way of formal question.

I am not very successful when I do so. The Chair will be aware of the number of Private Notice Questions which he ruled out of order in the last month.

The Deputy must resume her seat.

In view of the announcement yesterday by the Minister for Justice, when will legislation be brought in to allow people in the European Union to travel here without passports?

Is this promised legislation?

I am asking when it is proposed to bring it in.

That is not in order.

I will take the Chair's word for it.

Is the Tánaiste aware that one of the most modern container-ships in the world was launched in this country yesterday? The Ambassadors from Germany and the Netherlands, as well as 300 industrialists from this country and Rotterdam, were in attendance but the Government failed to field a member.

This is in breach of our procedures.

An official had to read the speech as neither Ministers Coveney nor Gilmore showed up.

The Deputy is being disorderly.

An international agreement was signed and a Minister was not present. It was a grave insult.

There is complete disregard for what is appropriate to the Order of Business.

When is it expected to bring the Equal Status Bill before the House?

It will be circulated later this year.
