Vol. 450 No. 7

Written Answers. - Participation in Training Programmes.

Tony Gregory

Question:

87 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the number of participants currently in employment subsidy schemes, FÁS training programmes and employment incentive schemes. [5688/95]

On 27 January last FÁS had 16,902 participants on training programmes.

FÁS no longer operates any employment subsidy or incentive schemes apart from a carry-over commitment to 91 persons involved in former schemes. Such schemes were terminated either because they had a fixed termination date from the outset or because they became superfluous in the light of the emergence of schemes such as the Department of Social Welfare back to work allowance scheme.
