Vol. 451 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hearing Impaired Children.

Tony Killeen

Question:

34 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Health the plans, if any, he has to improve services for hearing-impaired children in the mid-west area. [6250/95]

Limerick-East): The provision of services for hearing impaired children in the mid west area is a matter for the Mid-Western Health Board.

I have made £2 million additional funding available this year for the development of services for people with physical disabilities, £180,000 of which has been allocated to the Mid-Western Health Board. The board has indicated that it is proposing to allocate part of this funding to the recruitment of a social worker to deal with the needs of people with physical disabilities, including hearing impaired children.
