Vol. 451 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

John Ellis

Question:

134 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the percentage of 1994 grants under each scheme paid up to 16 March 1995, and if he will give a definite date for payment of all balances. [6516/95]

The payment position with regard to the 1994 headage and premia schemes is that over £456 million has been paid out to farmers to date. The percentage of applicants now paid under these schemes is as follows:

Scheme

% of Applicants paid advances

% of Applicants paid full entitlement to date

Cattle Headage/Beef Cow

97

81

Equine Headage

full payments only made

85

Sheep Headage

full payments only made

91

Goat Headage

full payments only made

60

Suckler Cow

86

77

Special Beef Premium Jan. & June

92

87

Slaughter Premium

full payments only made

96

Ewe Premium

98-99

99.9

Already this year payment of the final instalment of ewe premium was made a month earlier than last year and payment of the balances under both suckler cow and special beef premium schemes commenced two months earlier than last year. In general, the vast majority of applicants under the above schemes have now been paid either an advance payment or full entitlement. The remaining cases are, in the main, problem cases and payment will be made as soon as the problems are resolved.
Payment of November 1994 special beef premium is due to commence this week. November 1994 suckler cow premium and extensification premium payments will commence in early April.
