Vol. 451 No. 2

Requests to Move Adjournment of Dáil Under Standing Order 30.

Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a number of notices under Standing Order 30 dealing with two topics. I will deal with the topics separately and call on the Deputies in the order in which they submitted their notices. I call on Deputy O'Rourke to state the matter of which she gave notice.

Under Standing Order 30 I wish to move the Adjournment of the Dáil to debate a matter of pressing and urgent importance, namely, the deterioration of the position at Shannon Aerospace, particularly in view of the large number employed there and the massive State investment in the company.

Having been considered fully, the matter is not one contemplated by Standing Order 30 and, therefore, I cannot grant leave to move the motion. I now call on Deputy O'Donoghue to state the matter of which he gave notice.

I seek leave to move the Adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 30 to discuss a matter of public importance requiring urgent attention, namely, the comments relating to travellers made by the Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Energy and Communications on "Questions and Answers" on RTE last night, and to discuss whether this is in breach of the Prohibition of Incitement to Hatred Act, 1989 and whether it should be referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Having been considered fully, the matter is not one contemplated by Standing Order 30 and, therefore, I cannot grant leave to move the motion.
