Vol. 451 No. 2

Written Answers. - Naming of Housing Estates.

Eoin Ryan

Question:

79 Mr. E. Ryan asked the Minister for the Environment if he will change the regulations regarding the naming of housing estates in view of the fact that some developers name new estates the same as other estates in the same postal district. [6452/95]

There are powers available to urban authorities which should enable them effectively to control the naming of streets-estates etc. These powers will be reviewed, and the possibility of extending them to non-municipal areas will be considered, in the development of any proposals for amendment of relevant legislation.
