Vol. 451 No. 4

Written Answers. - Efficiency Audit Group Report.

Helen Keogh

Question:

14 Ms Keogh asked the Minister for Defence if he has met the Defence Forces representative associations to discuss the Efficiency Audit Group's report on the Defence Forces; if he has satisfied himself with the progress made at those discussions; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6653/95]

I met delegations from both the Representative Association of Commissioned Officers and the Permanent Defence Force Other Ranks Representative Association on 22 February 1995 and on a number of subsequent occasions regarding aspects of the Efficiency Audit Group's review of the Defence Forces which are of concern to the associations. I also met a delegation from the Reserve Defence Force Representative Association on 9 March 1995.

I intend that the representative associations for the Defence Forces will be consulted on all issues arising from the Efficiency Audit Group's review of the Defence Forces which come within their scope of representation. I envisage that the process of consultation with the representative associations will be a continuing one which can be progressed through the normal representative channels including the Defence Forces Conciliation Council.
