The tourism angling measure of the Operational Programme for Tourism 1994 - 1999 makes provision for a comprehensive investment programme in the development of the tourism angling product. That spending programme involving a total investment of £19 million over the period, is already under way.
A sum of £250,000 was allocated to projects approved under the measure in 1994. The allocation for 1995 is £2.86 million. The first round of projects submitted for 1995 are currently being assessed by the Central Fisheries Board. I hope to be in a position to announce expenditure decisions shortly.
