Written Answers. - Hepatitis B Immunisation.

Helen Keogh

Question:

60 Ms Keogh asked the Minister for Health the number and percentage of nurses vaccinated against Hepatitis B in each of the years 1992 to 1994. [6713/95]

Limerick East): It has been the Department's policy since 1988 that all health care staff whose occupation exposes them to contact with blood should be offered immunisation against hepatitis B. Immunisation is offered by the employing hospital authority but is not compulsory for staff. Information on the number and percentage of nurses immunised against hepatitis B is not collected on a routine basis by the Department.
