Vol. 451 No. 4

Written Answers. - Orthodontic Treatment.

Batt O'Keeffe

Question:

59 Mr. B. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Health if he will have arrangements made to carry out a review of the guidelines for treatment of orthodontic needs introduced in 1983 in order to ease the hardship for families who are facing bills of a minimum of £1,800 to have such treatment carried out. [6677/95]

Limerick East): The Department had discussions recently with health boards and their consultant orthodontists regarding progress in the development of the orthodontic service.

Arising from these discussions I am making arrangements to set up a group representative of health boards, consultant orthodontists and the Department to review the current guidelines to health boards for the provision of secondary care orthodontic services.
