It is assumed that the Deputy's question relates to cost per job.
In the case of Forbairt, IDA Ireland and Shannon Development cost per job is calculated on the basis of relating the total cost of all grants paid over a seven year period to the number of jobs created and still in existence at the end of the period. Therefore, it is a measurement of cost per job sustained over that period.
The most recent figures show that the cost per job sustained in Forbairt companies in the period 1988-94 was £9,930 at constant 1994 prices, while that for IDA Ireland companies was £12,786.
In relation to Shannon Development, the average cost per job sustained (covering the Shannon free zone and Irish industry in the region) for the period 1987-1993 was £13,150 at 1993 prices.
As county enterprise boards were only established in 1993, clearly cost per job sustained data similar to the main industrial development agencies is not available. I understand that, based on returns supplied by the 35 county enterprise boards for 1994, their first full year of operation, some 1,776 full time and 263 part time jobs were created by grant assisted projects at a cost of £4,965,000.
