Vol. 451 No. 7

Written Answers. - Postal Voting.

Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

82 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for the Environment if he will introduce postal voting facilities for Irish merchant seamen and other seafarers in view of the discrimination against the voting rights of these workers. [7165/95]

The Electoral Bill, 1994, which was published in October, 1994, proposes to provide voting arrangements for electors who, by reason of the circumstances of their occupation, are likely to be unable to attend their polling station on polling day. The Bill will be listed for debate in the House as soon as possible.
